Vurt achieved both critical and commercial success, attracting praise from the science fiction community as well as the literary arena. This is such a smart book, but for some reason doesn’t have the recognition that it deserves, at least not in literary circles.

Because of this I felt like there wasn’t enough world development in the beginning for me to really understand what was going on. That’s why I couldn’t finish it. Unfortunately, he missed out the word “incestuous”.
